Chief Judge Washington Elected President of the Conference of Chief Justices
(WASHINGTON)- D.C. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Eric T. Washington has been elected President of
the Conference of Chief Justices (CCJ), a national organization that promotes the interests and
effectiveness of state judicial systems by developing policies and educational programs designed to
improve court operations. CCJ also acts as the primary representative of the state courts before Congress

A Conversation with Chief Judge Washington
On August 5 Eric T. Washington took the oath of office as the new chief judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Washington has been an associate judge on the Court of Appeals since 1999, serving as cochair of the Strategic Planning Leadership Council for the District of Columbia courts and as a member of the Standing Committee on Fairness and Access to the D.C. Courts and the newly created Access to Justice Commission. He was an associate judge on the Superior Court from 1995 to 1999.
