  On August 5 Eric T. Washington took the oath of office as the new chief judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
  Washington has been an associate judge on the Court of Appeals since 1999, serving as cochair of the Strategic Planning Leadership Council for the District of Columbia courts and as a member of the Standing Committee on Fairness and Access to the D.C.
