Child Care
- The Child Care Center, founded in 1974 by the FRIENDS of the Superior Court, is available free of service to members of the public who have business with the Court. In the mid-1980’s, the Court assumed responsibility for the operation of the DC Superior Court Child Care Center.
- The Center has a colorful playroom with a variety of stimulating toys, games, books and activities that promote positive emotional, social, and physical development.
How do I...
- Locate the Child Care Center?
  The Center is located in Room C-185 on the lower (C) level of the H. Carl Moultrie Courthouse. It is on the C Street side of the building.
- Determine if my child is eligible to attend the Child Care Center?
  Your child(ren) must be between the ages of 2 and 12 years old. Children must be completely toilet-trained and wearing underwear - no pull-ups or pampers.
- Register my child?
  Registration forms can be completed online and brought to the Center on the day of or prior to Center use. (See forms locator for required forms.) Families with more than one child can list them all on the registration form.

- Licensing status?
  The Center is licensed by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), Child & Residential Care Facilities Division. The Center license is posted in the Reception Area of the Child Care Center.
- Staff?
  The Center is staffed full time by a Director and an Assistant Director, with the support of part-time aides. Staff is CPR and First-Aid certified. Staff must meet annual continuing education requirements annually.
- Hours?
  The Center is open Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Center is not open on Federal Holidays.

- Important Information:
  Children must be registered. The following forms may be printed, completed and brought to the Center on the day of the visit to speed up the registration process.

- A current DC Child Health Certificate with immunization records and DC Oral Health Assessment Form must be provided for each child on the second visit.

- Meals are not provided. Parents are required to pick up their child(ren) for at least a one-hour lunch break. Parents are encouraged to bring a morning and afternoon snack.
