Appeals Process without an Attorney
- You will be the initiator in the appeal process against the District of Columbia. Therefore, when filing your appeal petition, you will become the petitioner in the case and the District Government will be the respondent.
- You have the option of representing yourself in your case, but we advise you to consider retaining or consulting an attorney. This is advised because the procedures and rules of evidence apply equally to all parties, regardless of whether a petitioner is represented by an attorney.
- The Superior Court Tax Rules govern all proceeding, and you will be expected to know how those rules will affect each phase of your case.
